As we look to move forward with our feasibility study, we are asking for all parents and guardians to please complete a short survey to provide your valued input as to the direction the District will move towards in the future. These decisions will directly affect the education of your students and the future fiscal health of the District. The Jim Thorpe Area School District will now be in session on Monday, January 19, due to it being a snow make up day. All students are expected to be in attendance.
This is a reminder to all parents and guardians that the Jim Thorpe Area School District offers free breakfast and lunch to all of its students regardless of family income. In accordance with Pennsylvania Act 44, there is a notification sent to all parent and staff emails associated with Jim Thorpe Area High School. It was determined that a student possessed a pocket knife in a bookbag yesterday. There was no threat made towards any student or staff, and the proper procedures have been followed in regards to the student misconduct. Please see the Act 44 letter sent to your emails for the complete information.
Please check your staff or parent emails or the District website for an important letter regarding ACT 44 of 2025 that places new requirements on school districts for the reporting of weapons found in schools, on school transportation, or at school activities. Reminder: Tomorrow, May 21, 2025 the special education department will be hosting the final Parent Engagement Series training for the school year, located at the High School. This will take place in the LGI room prior to the board meeting from 5:30pm to 6:30pm. The topic for the month of May is Mental Health Awareness. We will be distributing resources and contact information for parents and families. All are welcome to attend this free event.
Due to Route 903 being closed at the mountain coming into town for downed trees, the Jim Thorpe Area School District will be on a 2-hour delay today, April 28, 2025.
We are thrilled with the overwhelmingly positive response to Olympian Threads.
Olympian Threads is a thrift store located at door 11 of the JTASD High School. The program is run by the special education department as an instructional opportunity for students to learn work based skills. This is provided in a simulated environment that closely resembles a place of business similar to a clothing store in which they may be seeking employment for after graduation.
The store will be open for high school students to shop throughout the week at designated times. We also hope to include hours for the community to shop prior to board meetings and/or committee meetings. Once we have the dates and times confirmed the information will be posted on the district website.

The Jim Thorpe Touchdown Club is excited to host an Easter Egg Hunt tomorrow, Saturday, April 19th, from 9 AM to 11 AM at the Jim Thorpe Area High School stadium!
