Carbon County Fair Queen Information | The purpose of the Carbon County Fair Queen and Junior Miss Program is to promote the education of young women through a scholarship program and to encourage the promotion of the Carbon County Fair (its history and community impact), educate the public on the agricultural industry, and foster a greater public understanding of the importance of each of these to our community. Attached are the applications and information sheets for the Carbon County Fair Queen program. There are two positions candidates can compete for. The winners and their runner ups will be crowned at the Carbon County Fair in August (4th-9th): Junior Miss (Ages 13-15) and Fair Queen (Ages 16-20). LCCC CPR Certification Course | LCCC is offering single evening class CPR certification opportunities. CPR Certification is necessary for jobs such as babysitting and lifeguarding, equips students with skills to respond to emergencies in their communities, may lead to increased job opportunities, and may meet a graduation requirement for some students. Military Service Academy Day | U.S. Congressman Ryan MacKenzie is hosting a Service Academy Day, an informational session on the process to apply for a Congressional Military Service Academy Appointment. The session is designed to provide essential information regarding the steps to apply for and secure nomination to one of our nation's Military Service Academies. High school students, their parents/guardians, and community members interested in learning more are invited to attend. During this session, you will have the opportunity to hear from experts on the nomination and application processes, as well as ask questions about eligibility requirements, deadlines, and the benefits of attending a Military Service Academy. The session will outline how to begin these processes, and the steps required to complete your nomination application. Pennsylvania Free Enterprise Week | Pennsylvania Free Enterprise week or PFEW is an award-winning week-long summer educational program offered to all current high school sophomores and juniors throughout Pennsylvania. It is a fun, interactive, hands-on program that teaches students to understand the operations of a business including marketing, accounting, supply and demand and more. PFEW also helps students develop critical skills in communication, leadership, time management, problem solving and team building all while improving their self-esteem and confidence. PULSE 2025 | PULSE is a program designed for students in grades 9-12, and is run by medical students, giving the participants opportunities to receive mentorship and guidance from folks a few steps ahead of them. The 12-week program is virtual with an in-person opportunity to end the semester. Weekly live zoom sessions focus on small group learning through case discussions related to the topic, as well as open discussion about navigating the path to careers in medicine.
